Another technical workshop was organized on the topic of Project Management Support in the Building Industry

On February 10, 2009 another technical workshop from the NAVISYS workshop series was held. The main topic was “Project management support in the building industry”. The event was organized in collaboration with Microsoft, Callida, Tenza and Project Management Association. The event was held in the capital of Prague, namely at the head office of Microsoft.

The workshop was organized for managers of companies with job orders managed as projects, dealing with civil engineering or building industry manufacturing. A questionnaire survey preceded the event, the results of which were reflected when finalizing the agenda.

The opening presentation was held by Ing. Jiří Bureš from NAVISYS, discussing the subject of All-In-One Information System for a Building Company. As a part of his presentation he introduced to the participants BIZ4Buildln, a unique field-specific solution for the building industry, based on the platform of Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Another topic was presented by a reference customer – TENZA, represented by its financial manager, Ing. Jan Mucha, who explained how project and financial management works in practice. He also answered questions regarding the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV system and its benefits for his company. Tomáš Svoboda, the sales manager of Callida, introduced euroCALC 3, an expert system designed especially for the area of construction work price calculations.

Ing. Jan Doležal, a representative of the Project Management Association, talked about project management standards. He explained to the participants what one should imagine under the concept of “a project management standard”, what the most notable standards are and what benefits result from standardization. A presentation of Microsoft followed. Drahoslav Dvořák – a product specialist – introduced to the participants the products of MS SharePoint a MS Project.

Concluding speech was held by Michal Češek, general manager of NAVISYS, discussing the topic of Controlling.

An indispensable traditional main prize contest for Xbox 360 game console was organized. Congratulations to the lucky winner.

Most workshop participants came from engineering and project oriented companies who believed the individual presentations were very useful; also the overall rating of the event was very high. In personal meetings held during and at the end of the workshop, individual company representatives confirmed this fact. Participation in these types of events not only brings a lot of new information but it is also an opportunity to establish closer relations with colleagues dealing with the same issues and to share with them mutual experience.
